JEREMY WECHSLER is the Artistic Director of Theater Wit where he has directed the dozens of local premieres and second productions. Under Jeremy’s leadership, Theater Wit has emerged as the go to destination for cutting edge contemporary work, gaining national recognition for excellence. He has directed over sixty shows at various theaters around the country; his productions have been nominated for and won multiple awards for design, performance, adaptation and best new work. He has been featured multiple times in the New York Times and American Theatre Magazine.

Theater Wit is a Chicago-based developmental theater with a national profile, specializing in second productions—helping playwrights refine their work in the space between a premiere and wider regional or New York circulation. Increasingly, it also bridges the Chicago and Los Angeles theater scenes.

In addition, through its Shared Spaces program, Theater Wit offers its three stages to nonprofit producers at steeply reduced rates, a multi-year response to post-pandemic closures across Chicago. Participating companies also receive marketing support, production guidance, and full accessibility services—enabling longer runs and more ambitious seasons, and sustaining the storefront community that defines Chicago theater.
